I thought Shelley got in the only solid punch to Chara's chops. The big plus was that it got Chara off the ice for five minutes--big deal, Chara was smoking the puck from the left point and the Flyers paid for it on the scoreboard.
I give the slightest of edges to Chara- he landed a few more jersey jabs, I think, but I could easily go with draw here too. It is notable that Jody Shelley isn't tiny, and when Chara shoved him down, he did so with ease. I think Chara is freakish. I'd rather fight Shaq, and like 2001 Shaq, before he got fat and lazy. And that last right from Shelley- I don't think it reached..
If u voted Shelley the winner here, you're an idiot. Who cares though anyways. That goon lost to a Norris Trophy contender who barely fights anymore. He usually doesn't waste his time or need to, but when he does, he doesn't lose. He doesn't win pretty, but he never gets hurt or dominated, EVER. FYI, if Scott remains in this league long enough, he can challenge Chara if he likes, and they'll fight. Chara isn't afraid of anyone and he will go with him. I'd like to see it myself. Personally I think McGratton and MacIntyre are both scarier punchers than Scott. I'd like those fights to happen!
Chara bounced Shelley's face off his hand like a basketball, and rather easily won a fight in which the result surprised no one. And he got the Gordie Howe Hat-Trick too. To those who say Chara isn't a good fighter, you're just wrong. Nobody wants to fight him because they always lose, they can't get past the reach. Chara landed a few after the jersey jabs too, and Shelley taking him off the ice did nothing for his team. Anything Shelley may have "landed" did nothing. Chara won just like the Bruins.
