Gonger, it was a long night of Sutton being Sutton. He got away with a knee to Eric Staal early in the game. He was guilty of boarding twice in this game, including a hit to the head of Alexei Ponikarovsky. He'll certainly be suspended no less than six games for his hit to Poni. He's a repeat offender this season with a 5 game suspension for a hit to the head of Gabriel Landeskog last month.
In short, this hit was clean, but it wasn't necessary, and Sutton was dirty all night long. It was finally time for him to pay the piper, even if it wasn't much of a fight.

Of course it was a crap fight, but Sutton had this (and a lot more) coming. Gleason made a bad move just because he was tired of watching Sutton take shots. Too bad the Canes didn't have someone who could have ended Sutton's night with a KO, because he would have earned every inch of it.

how you could score a win for anyone here is ridiculous. there wasnt even a fight.

How is that even a fight?! Was there even a punch thrown? There might of been one by Gleasson.. might.... I'm sure Gleason did not want to get up and fight Sutton that's why he just lay on him. Nice show put on by Gleason defending a teammate... lol show...

What is happening to the NHL where a clean hit causes a fight. This was all on Skinner who needs to watch where he's going. I don't care what Sutton did before, there was no reason to try and fight him for this clean hit. Everytime someone gets knocked down now, it's a fight...I'm all for the fights, but keep it to when there's a real reason! Just dumb....

It's a shame Hockeyfights doesn't use some common sense when they post these so-called fights. Soon they can change their name to Hockey let's makeout.com

Everybody is missing the point of this fight... Sutton laid a cheapshot on Ponikarovsky earlier in the game and boarded him. Yes, the hit on Skinner was clean. Gleason knows it was clean, but he was sending a message to not go after their skilled players. Especially laying a hit like that down 2 with 2 minutes left in the game. Message sent, and Sutton didnt want a piece of Gleason. Gleason is doing what he is paid to do, play defense and defend his stars. End of story.

Having not seen the game, to drop the mitts over a hit like that is just plane asinine, McSorely wouldn't have done that for 99

Winner: SABERHATRED and a capital 1

No fight! Good call on the penalties. Quit fighting over clean hits...just target the other guys stars with clean hits.
