Steve Downie vs Erik Gudbranson

Downie was jawing with Jo-Goon-Ovski when Gooberson jumped in like a hero. He got an instigator penalty for his trouble. If that's what the stinkin Panthers have for a hero then they are in trouble, He's 6'4" to Downie's 5'11" and still couldnt take Downs out. I hate when these self described tough guys jump Downie from behind, a la former Panther pu$$y Nathan Horton last year in the playoffs, Why not man up and take him on face to face girls? Hate Downie all you want, but he won't back down from anybody. His biggest problem is he can't keep his mouth shut after the fight and draws 10 min misconduct as well.

At 19 years old and only his 3rd game in the NHL, I'd say Gudbranson'll have fans, lots of fans. He had quite a height-reach advantage over Downie, which is why I thought the fight was lopsided. The fans loved it, I loved it.

As a huge panthers fan, I'm glad to see downie get smashed by those uppercuts

By the way some of the Florida Panthers Twitterati were going, I was expecting to see Gudbranson tune Downie in like a fiddle. Not quite the case, but the big kid did pop Downie's weasel a couple times with some good uppercuts. Gudbranson gets the win purely on size, Downie really had no answer for the reach and weight of the rookie.

Yawn. Though I am a Downie fan, this was a pretty boring fight =( I like when Malone fights the best!

i dont get how people see this as lopsided. They eached landed 2-3 punches . Im not a fan of either team or player .Gudbranson looked like he landed the first 2 upper-cuts from long distance but not much after that. Downie got loose and landed a couple late.

the one reason being a lightning fan sucks is that this guy is our one and only fighter, and he sucks at fighting. just instigates and usually holds on for dear life. landed some nice ones at the end though. after saying that, still love downie and draw on the fight. both landed shots

Definite draw, both landed nice shots. Gotta love how Downie will get in anyones face

Gudbranson landed some serious blows. Credit Downie for staying on his feet. Downie only landed one good punch per Gudbranson after the game.

Downie shows some stones to come back late with some big shots but still loses. Glad to see he hasn't forgotten what his job is.

Downie is a gutty but mouthy lil puke...that kid Gudbranson has the wingspan of a condor. Nice uppercuts, was waiting for him to swing his arm under and over Downies and come down on the temple with some heat. Downie then jabbers at Jovonoski, what was he yelling?
"I'm going to Disneyworld!"?
