Ah, the enigma known as Jody Shelley, feeling the pressure of Tom Sestito as the new team enforcer along with a fat contract that if jettisoned would get the Flyers below the cap. So he makes a bonehead move by crunching the Leafs player from behind into the boards, earning himself a major and a game misconduct, probably a suspension. Then Shelley gets opened up a la Chuck "The Bayonne Bleeder" Wepner by Rosehill but manages to eke out a win with a couple of heavy belts to Rosehill's mug. Today I suspect that Paul Holmgren is sitting there trying to figure out what to do with Jody Shelley.

It is always nice to see someone get tuned up and bloodied after an obviouls cheap shot. Win Rosehill by a drip of blood or two.

StacyB has it right about Shelley, but I give it a draw as Rosehill held his own and was able to draw blood

Cheap hit.......Thats a suspension!!!! Plain and simple ....Now the fight....Rosehill did what he needed to do and stood in there but IMO Shelley is just a tougher dude and when they are going toe to toe you can see that he's better stronger and more comfortable doing it

Win to cheapshot dude

Good close tilt, edge to Rosehill.

Very slight edge to Shelly who was on the attack the entire fight. Players used to scoot in and move the puck on the fly or at least draw up their shoulders to protect themselves. Now they are going to drift in and put their faces to the boards and look as unprotected as possible to try and draw a penalty. It looks like Boyce was daring someone. A few hits like this early in the season and the ensuing headache will be useful in reminding the shirkers that this is still a contact sport and not tiddleywinks.

Nice bit of enforcing there by Rosehill, the more i see of this kid the more i like. Orr and Rosehill would be a nice 1-2 punch.

Rosehill earns his money, but a draw.

For those who think Boyce should have been more aware, trust me, he was. Why do you think he chipped the puck one way and headed the other?

Shelley should have been more aware! Aware that the NHL is cracking down on those hits. Aware that there is a new disciplinarian in town. Aware that he is the perfect player to set an example with....

Shelley didn't even hit Boyce that hard, who should have been more aware of whats going on anyway, what's Shelley supposed to do, not finish his forecheck?

As for the fight, good even tilit, call it a draw and 7

THE FLYERS DIDNT TAKE LONG GETTING BACK INTO THE SWING OF THINGS-THROWING CHEAPSHOTS AND THEN BEING UNABLE TO HANDLE THEMSELVES IN A FIGHT-mid season form already
