Date / Time Away / Home Team Away / Home Player
Nov 19, 1999 Chicago Blackhawks Ryan VandenBussche
3pd 06:15 Anaheim Ducks Stu Grimson
Comments: Grimson is looking for vengeance from his earlier loss in the game and goes with Vandenbussche off the faceoff again. This time he starts pumping very heavy rights, forcing Vandenbussche to his knees under the intense onslaught. The linesmen come in, but Vandenbussche rights himself and manages a weak left as the two reset. They each toss another right before the slip, with Vandenbussche landing on top. Vandenbussche is a bloody mess and there is ample blood on the ice, his face, and Grimson's uniform. This was Grimson's third fight of the game, and he picked up a gamer for it. Other Penalties: Grimson received a game misconduct.

As a Hawk fan, you wanted someone who was big enough to fight the big guys straight up, but you were proud to say that VandenBussche was on the team.

That's more like it boys! What a breath of fresh air. The Grim Reaper workin the right like a piston and Vandy with the brass to keep gettin up. These guys are sorely missed.

Grimson wins. Bushman has all the guts in the world though. This was Grimson's third fight in the game. Might have been a little tuckered out.

Good to see some ol'time Chi town Brawlin with the Reaper. Honest to goodness blood. No cheapshots here. Great to see blood splatter when they fall to the ice. See if you can come up with fighters who let 'em rip like that these days. And believe me, there are some. Vandy took some bombs and lost a quart of vino from the tap there but didn't need any help off the ice. True warrior at this point.

I STILL THINK THAT WAS THE BEST FIGHT IN DUCKS HISTORY, IN FACT ONE OF THE BEST PERIOD. I MISS "THE GRIMSON REAPER" AS HE PLAYED THE GAME RIGHT.
