First, the NHL has to put an end to these type of hits period. 5 minutes and tossed from the game with a possible suspension will wake players up. I can understand if the hit is from an angle or the player suddenly rurning, but this was text book boarding. Thankfully Hendricks was not seriously hurt.

Erskine charges in, took on the bigger Sutton and made him pay for the hit. Erskine spent 10 more minutes in the box than Sutton, again the NHL needs to wake the F up... Clear win for Erskine.

Sutton's brow was cleaved in twain

Probably all he'll have as a reminder not to do that, since the NHL needs people to get seriously hurt before they'll suspend for something

Erskine throws as hard as anyone in the league. He throws 'em like he's Joe Kocur or something. Sutton runs around alot and here he paid for it a bit.

Not a great fight, and Erskine didn't do everything he should have done to Sutton. I thought hits from behind were illegal in the league. I also didn't see what Erskine did to earn a misconduct. Sutton's hit on Hendricks crossed the line and should have earned him some games off the ice to reflect on his loss of self control.

Sutton grabbed and held Erskine close since he knew he'd been beaten. Blood running down the left side of his face was evidence of that after that cheap shot on Hendricks.

Sutton's a douche but i'll give him the benefit of the doubt on the hit...Erskine comes roaring and did his job smartly...but Sutton with a bomb to knock Johnny's bucket off...then Erskine with some shots that must have connected to open Sutton up.....DRAW.

I was going to give this a draw until I saw Sutton's left eye at the end. I guess at least one of those heavy rights from Erskine connected pretty squarely!

To give Sutton some credit though, this was much closer than I thought it would be when I clicked on the link to watch it.

I am no professional hockey player but in my opinion they should know when hitting someone from behind can cause either pain or (serious) injury.

In this case Sutton should have "nudged" the Capital instead of "driving" him to the boards.

In any case W for 'Skin.

Johnny said enough of this and went after a non-call 5 minute penalty. I believe that last right cross required Sutton to hug and ask for forgiveness!

Erskine drew blood. That cliinches it. And he never would have gone after Sutton had the refs called boarding on him. Good for him for standing up for Hendricks.

Sutton may be a gentle giant off the ice but he seems to have a problem stopping himself from faceplanting people into the boards from behind. This almost looks like a replay of what he did to Pascal Dupuis in a game against the Pens a couple years ago except that Dupuis was hurt much worse than Hendricks was. You're a big dude, Sutton. You need to think a little more before following through on these hits.
