Right off of the faceoff, the two drop the gloves and square off near the side boards. Each player tries to grab ahold of one another before Shelley latches on to Laraque's jersey. Laraque throws a flurry of seven lefts with Shelley returning fire with three rights. They wrestle around and then Shelley lands a right flush to the side of Laraque's face before Shelley loses his balance and falls to the ice, bringing the linesmen in.

Dingman and Belak shove each other as they skate by the Toronto net before dropping the gloves. Belak throws an uppercut and the two wrestle around in tight and exchange rabbit punches to the back of each other's helmet. Dingman lands a right and Belak responds with a right to the side of Dingman's helmet before the two go back and forth with rights that catch nothing but helmet. They grapple and Dingman throws an overhand right that is blocked and countered with a Belak uppercut. Belak shakes off his elbow pad and then the two fall to the ice.

Godard exchanges words with Travis Green before the faceoff and Godard goes after him once the puck drops. Gill skates after Godard and cross checks him from behind, knocking him to the ice. Godard returns to his feet and the two drop the gloves. Godard throws a quick right and Gill misses with a right over the top. Gill throws two rights as Godard throws a right and tries to shake his elbow pad off. Godard loses his balance and goes down to his knees before getting back up and throwing a short right. Gill connects with a right cross and then the two exchange right hands. Godard throws a jersey-jab and an uppercut for good measure. Gill pulls Godard around by his jersey before throwing a right. They wrestle around some more and Godard lands a right before Gill knocks Godard's helmet off with some left jabs. Godard rips Gill's helmet off and then Gill gets Godard bent over and wrestles him to the ice. Other Penalties: Wayne Primeau received a hooking.

Kyle McLaren goes after Nichol after he cross checks Steve Bernier. Nichol gives McLaren a gloved punch in response as Michalek grabs Nichol from behind and everyone piles in. Nichol throws two rights as Michalek falls down in the scrum, taking Nichol with him. Both players rise to their feet and grab each other. Michalek throws two rights and a left and Nichol lands five rights to the side and back of Michalek's head as Michalek falls to the ice. Nichol then throws Michalek to the ice and a referee splits them up. Other Penalties: Nichol a roughing and game misconduct; Michalek a game misconduct.

Bernier pulls Witt by his jersey as Witt lands four overhand rights to the back of Bernier's head before the two fall to the ice. Other Penalties: Bernier received an instigator, unsportsmanlike conduct and misconduct; Witt a tripping.

Adams bumps Horton while Horton's carrying the puck up ice along the boards. They push and shove and Horton grabs Adams, drops his gloves and waits for Adams to do the same. Adams follows suit, and Horton starts off by landing a right to the side of the head, and then throws another. Adams gets his own right in, and then Horton continues by throwing another right. Horton throws a couple of more while Adams switches to his left in and awkwardly throws a couple that don't land. Adams' last miss causes him to slip to a knee. Horton takes Adams' helmet off and hits him with it while they both fall. Adams gets up to a knee and gets a right in while the linesmen break it up. Other Penalties: Horton received an instigator and misconduct.

Nichol bumps up with Bieksa along the boards. Nichol gives Bieksa a little stick to the back, Bieksa turns, and Nichol drops the gloves and throws an immediate right that Bieksa is able to avoid. Bieksa returns fire right away with a couple of rights. Nichol's in an awkward position and when Bieksa attempts to throw a right uppercut Nichol falls taking Bieksa with him. The linesmen immediately break it up.

Nick Boynton gives Mike Ribeiro a stick in the midsection and then Ribeiro takes a shot at Boynton. At first Boynton skates away, but after a moment he goes after Ribeiro, drops the gloves and a huge scrum ensues. Rivet gets into the scrum trying to pull Boynton off of Ribeiro. Gill is pasted on Rivet's back trying to pull him out of the scrum. While Gill is trying to work Rivet free he slips and falls to the ice. Rivet ends up on top of Gill and they end up wrestling around on the ice and are eventually separated. Other Penalties: Nick Boynton received a double spearing and game misconduct; Mike Ribeiro a roughing.

Antti Laaksonen hits Dennis Wideman along the boards as the buzzer sounds to end the second period. Players gather and McCormick and Jackman grab ahold of each other, drop the gloves and break away from the pack. McCormick starts things off by throwing about four rights, the first possibly connecting with Jackman leaning away from the rest. They grapple a bit and then Jackman throws a couple of right body shots. McCormick responsds with a right that comes up short. Jackman then throws a bit overhand right that McCormick gets under. McCormick immediately throws a left that catches Jackman in the shoulder, and follows up with another left that Jackman gets under. The skate and grapple some more, each player tossing a shot that doesn't reach its target. Jackman throws a couple of more body shots and then goes up top with a right that gets a little high, but knocks McCormick's helmet off, as it was already half off. Jackman continues with the right and McCormicks responds with a good left. They each toss another shot that doesn't quite make it and it's apparent they're tired. They start to grapple once more and the linesmen come in to break it up.

Janssen takes a run at Erskine near the Islanders' net and knocks him into Rick DiPietro. Erskine skates over to Janssen and puts a right hand in his face before they drop the gloves. Erskine throws two overhand rights and tries to shake his elbow pad off as Janssen returns fire with a body shot. They wrestle up against the glass and Erskine throws two more overhand rights and misses with an uppercut while Janssen struggles to get an arm free. They exchange right crosses before Erskine connects with a few jersey-jabs and Janssen knocks Erskine's helmet off with a right. Janssen then throws six overhand rights, connecting with four of them while Erskine tries to duck away from the punches. Erskine throws two short uppercuts as Janssen connects with two more rights to the side of Erskine's head. Erskine throws a wide right just as the linesmen come in and break things up. Other Penalties: Erskine received an instigator and misconduct.

They wrestle around on the ice as the referee tries to separate them. Ott shakes off his elbow pad and cocks back his right arm before the two are finally sent to the penalty box. Other Penalties: Ott received a charging.

They tie up, wrestle around in tight and Laperriere loses his balance and pushes himself up with his hand. Laperriere misses with a short uppercut as Arnott tries to pull him off-balance. Laperriere gets his right arm free and misses with an overhand right while Arnott is bent over. Arnott throws an inside uppercut and Laperriere fires back with a right. Arnott attempts a locked-out right just before the linesmen come in and end the fight. Other Penalties: Laperriere received a holding.

They grab ahold of each other and grapple as Commodore throws three overhand rights as Roy tries to respond with a locked-out right of his own. Roy then lands a straight right just as Commodore throws a right cross. Roy then throws a flurry of rights with a few landing and Commodore throws a body shot and tries to duck away from Roy's punches. Commodore gets turned around and Roy lands five rights to the back of his helmet. Commodore throws a right in defense as Roy lands another right to the side of Commodore's head. Commodore then falls to the ice and the linesmen rush in. Roy skates off shaking his hand in pain.
