Derek Armstrong runs over Cujo and Jamie Rivers gets into his face after the whistle. They grab on, Rivers throws a few short rights, seems to be in control, then Armstrong throws a big bomb that looked to connect. Rivers pauses a second to shake it off, then throws a big bomb of his own that seemed to stun or discourage Armstrong. It finished with them each wrestling the other to the ice. Other Penalties: Rivers received a high sticking; Armstrong a goalie interference.

They bump each other and decide to drop em. They each hold each other at arms-length with the left and begin to throw with the right. Belak throws some overhand rights at Worrell, some landing. Then Worrell starts throwing some haymakers, some barely landing, if at all. They continue to spin around and throw haymakers. Belak lands one that knocks Worrell's helmet off. Worrell counters with some rights of his own. They tire each other out, so the linesman come in to break up the fight.

Vandy asks for this one and they drop em and get in close early. Both fighters get each other's helmet off. Brookbank tries a few rights which don't go anywhere. Brookbank then gets his left free and throws three shots. It looked like two missed clearly and the third might have landed. Vandy then goes for the take down in a short fight.

A delayed penalty is coming against the Pens. Kostopoulos touches the puck, the whistle blows and Cole comes in and hits him late. TK goes after him and a big scrum breaks out. Landon Wilson comes in and goes after Cole. A linesman comes in and grabs Wilson and Adams comes over and starts taking shots at Wilson from behind. Wilson turns around and throws a couple of off-balance punches. Adams loses his balance and goes down, then Wilson gets on top and starts hitting Adams with rights. Other Penalties: Wilson received an unsportsmanlike conduct and obstruction holding; Glen Wesley an unsportsmanlike conduct.

They drop the gloves and Burnett throws two that look to hit shoulder/helmet. Parker throws one body punch then another up top that knocks off Burnett's helmet. Lots of jersey tugging, seemed to be more strength by Parker. Burnett tries to throw a jab and misses. More tugging as Burnett tries to throw another punch and misses and slips down to the ice.

Right off a faceoff, they get the gloves up and then drop em. Shelley nails Oliwa with about three quick rights before Oliwa gets off anything. They get locked up a little and then they both start throwing rights with few landing by either man. At the end Oliwa gets in a good right and then they get tangled up and Shelley goes for the takedown.

Sarich punched Briere in the face earlier in the game, setting a bit of a nasty tone. Mair gets crushed by Sarich, and Peters goes after him. They drop the gloves and grab on. Peters lands a right early. Another one hits helmet, another hits under the armpit. Another attempt is blocked by Sarich. Peters tries to get the right free and misses with a poke. A right by Sarich ends up falling short. More grappling, a short right by Peters doesn’t land. Peters struggles to get his arm free, Sarich is doing a good job tying him up. A right by Peters doesn’t land, but sends Sarich off-balance a bit. He responds with a right that misses. He tries an uppercut, which also doesn’t land. A couple of attempted rights by Peters are blocked. Rights by each man don’t go anywhere. A right by Sarich misses. Peters taps Sarich with an uppercut. Peters lands a decent right. An uppercut by Sarich just misses. Peters grazes a right, Sarich misses with a response. Peters lands a right that looks to sting Sarich a bit and he buries his head. Peters shoves the helmet off and throws one to the back of the head. The linesmen come in and it’s over. Other Penalties: Sarich received an unsportsmanlike conduct.

A big scrum ensues at the end of the period. Afinogenov and Taylor grapple behind the net. The camera moves to other players, and when it comes back, the gloves are off. Taylor has Afinogenov shoved up against the net. Afinogenov throws a right that doesn't land and that carries him off balance and they go down. Easily could have been double roughing minors. Other Penalties: Afinogenov, Taylor and J.P. Dumont each received a roughing.

Big scrum at the end of the period and these two chose to go. A lot of holding and grabbing. Pettinger landed an uppercut and three lefts then Mironov swings wildly, grabs on and takes him down. Other Penalties: Alexander Semin, Jeff Halpern and Jozef Balej each received a roughing.

Right off the faceoff, Lessard drops the gloves and Peters immediately turtles. Lessard rains lefts upon him. McKee jumps in, drop the gloves, and throws a few rights. Everyone else pairs off, but nothing comes of it. Other Penalties: Lessard received an instigator, misconduct and game misconduct. Andrew Peters did not receive a fighting major.

Petro clips Dumont. Jillson immediately skates over, drops the gloves, and away we go. In close, Jillson throws two right uppercuts. They grapple, and Petro starts firing rights and overwhelms Jillson, who begins to drop his head. Jillson pops up and lands a right. A few more rights from Petrovicky, and it's mostly hugging now. Jillson gets one more uppercut in and it's broken up. Other Penalties: Petrovicky received a clipping; Jillson an instigator and misconduct; Thrashers receive a too many men on the ice penalty.

Right in front of the net, bodies all around, the gloves come off and Brennan gets in two early rights that appear to land. Brown goes to a knee and then gets up. He tries to come back and then goes down after Brennan lands another. He tries to get back up, but the linesman grabs him.

Big scrum, as Brown throws Kovalchuk down in front of the net at the end of the play. Bartovic punches Kovalchuk right in the face. Kovalchuk goes nuts and jumps onto his back, hammering him with gloved punches. Somewhere in there, Mair and Majesky pair off. Neither party seems too interested. Mair throws a left, Majesky a right or two. Mair gets thrown down, but they're allowed to get up and continue. Mostly more grappling, a right thrown by Majesky, then Mair lands a big left, and that's pretty much it. Other Penalties: Randy Robitaille received a goaltender interference; Milan Bartovic a cross checking; Ilya Kovalchuk a roughing and high sticking.

This happens immediately off the faceoff right after Peters-Brennan. Lessard might have gotten a quick jump, but no instigator here. They get in tight and spin a little. Some lefts by both. Boulton landed one in tight, but then Lessard swung him around by the boards and got him with a left for the knockdown.
