Oct 23, 2002 New Jersey Devils Jim McKenzie
1pd 04:28 Atlanta Thrashers Francis Lessard
Comments: Good brief toe-to-toe scrap. McKenzie began with throwing some lefts, but Lessard answers with some really hard shots that land on the button. They grapple for a few seconds and Lessard lands a hard left that cuts McKenzie under the right eye. Mckenzie is hurt and burries his head in Lessard's chest. He gets a good hold on Lessard's lefts sleeve, locking him out. Then McKenzie tries a big left, Lessard ducks it. Fight over. Mckenzie is bleeding from the eye and behind the ear.

Oct 22, 2002 Edmonton Oilers Ethan Moreau
1pd 15:18 Colorado Avalanche Derek Morris
Comments: Morris and Moreau go in the middle of a power play. Morris is clearly pissed and throws some very strong rights, all of which landed. Moreau gets in two very good punches to the face and Morris looks stunned, but comes back and throws a few more good ones before it is broken up.

Oct 21, 2002 Atlanta Thrashers Pascal Rheaume
1pd 06:19 Florida Panthers Brad Ference
Comments: Starts out as a hugfest, then Rheaume breaks free and gets some good rights in, one of which clearly stuns Ference. A few more hits to the helmuts on both sides and Ference starts to put his head down as the linesmen come in.

Oct 21, 2002 Calgary Flames Scott Nichol
3pd 10:46 Detroit Red Wings Jesse Wallin
Comments: Wallin shoves Nichol down. Nichol immediately gets up and drops the gloves. He starts throwing some punches, all wild punches, not sure if any connected. Wallin finally realizes he is in a fight and he drops the gloves and throws 1 or 2. Nichol still throwing wildly, Wallin throws Nichol down and starts throwing punches as Nichol is covering his head. Other Penalties: Nichol received an instigator and misconduct.

Oct 21, 2002 Tampa Bay Lightning Chris Dingman
2pd 15:17 New York Rangers Dale Purinton
Comments: The two come together in the Rangers zone, shortly after a Tampa goal. They tie up quickly, Dingman going for the complete hug right away. Purinton throws 2 big rights and one small one, all missing or just grazing Dingman who is in real tight. Dinger goes for the takedown and gets it.

Oct 20, 2002 Washington Capitals Rick Berry
3pd 19:48 Dallas Stars Brenden Morrow
Comments: This happened right off the face off with about 10 seconds to go in the 3rd. They come together, grapple, no punches land and fall to the ice. Looks like Morrow might have thrown some over the linesmen when they were on the ice.

Oct 19, 2002 Vancouver Canucks Brent Sopel
2pd 19:58 Los Angeles Kings Ian Laperriere
Comments: By the time the camera gets to them, Laperriere is throwing rights at Sopel, who is covering up. Sopel then starts some lefts which result in a couple landing on the helmet. Both tie up and then Laperriere tries to throw a left hook that misses and causes both to fall to the ice.

Oct 19, 2002 Florida Panthers Peter Worrell
2pd 03:30 Columbus Blue Jackets Jody Shelley
Comments: No cheap stuff here; good, clean, everybody ready to go, square off. Jody jumps in to get a hold of something and there is lots there to grab on to. They're in the corner along the boards. Worrell goes first with a right that may have caught the helmet with little damage. Both throw rights, with both coming up short. Jody is quick with another right which can't reach its target. Worrell's right is free and that is bad news. He throws it and it looks to connect only to the shoulder. He doesn't stop there and throws a quick right uppercut which hits a little jersey and that's all. Jody is within arms reach and lands a heavy right to the left jaw. At the same time, a Worrell right may or may not have connected (bad angle), but no damage shows. Another quick Worrell right comes up a bit short. He has Shelley locked out and that's preventing Worrell from hitting him. Shelley tries a right, but it fizzles into nothing. Worrell has Jody in kind of a headlock. Ooh! A heavy short right from Worrell lands to the face! A true fighter, Shelley fires his own right and lands to the face of Worrell. A repeat right from Jody lands to the back; nothing. Two rights from Shelley land to the head, while one from Big Pete misses. Worrell is a bit shaken. A right from Shelley hits nothin'. Worrell comes with a big right and get a bit of shoulder and that's all. Shelley does the same. Worrell's hand is lost in his jersey. Both guys are cocked and ready to fire. Jody goes with a big right uppercut which misses. Worrell look like he lands a right to the head. Again. Now Pete with an uppercut: misses. Shelley misses with a right cross and loses his helmet. Worrell goes with the right and misses. Jody goes with a noogie right and probably misses, but it don't matter; too weak. Worrell throws and misses with a nothing right. Looks like Worrell lands a wild left uppercut; bad angle. In close on the boards. Jody misses a left. Jody is burrowing his head in the monsters chest. Shelley get bent over and Worrell lands a massive forearm to the back. As the linesmen come in, Pete goes with the forearm to the back again and one more time for good measure. The linesmen seperate'em and it's all over. Good stuff, as neither guys right arm was ever locked up.

Oct 19, 2002 New Jersey Devils Jim McKenzie
3pd 17:15 Carolina Hurricanes Darren Langdon
Comments: It starts right after the Stevens-Battaglia fight. At the faceoff both players are talking and they throw off the gloves. Jim throws about six or sevens bombs that look to hit Landgon on the side of the head or helmet. Then Landgon tries to hug McKenzie, but Jim will not have any of that. Landgon tries to come back with some rights and lefts while trying to get loose from McKenzie. They both end up across the ice near the boards. Langdon manages to throw a right that knocks the helmet of McKenzie off. McKenzie then tries to throw some more punches, but both players are tired and the linesmen break it up along the boards.

Oct 19, 2002 New Jersey Devils Scott Stevens
3pd 17:10 Carolina Hurricanes Bates Battaglia
Comments: It starts off when Stevens knees Jeff O'Neill, and Battaglia goes after Stevens. Stevens throws about five or six punches right to the face of Battaglia sending him to the ice near the other players surrounding them. Other Penalties: Stevens received a kneeing; Battaglia an instigator and misconduct.

Oct 19, 2002 Phoenix Coyotes Daymond Langkow
1pd 20:00 Buffalo Sabres Jason Woolley
Comments: Woolley throws a check right before an offsides call on a Yote. Next play, Langkow throws a check on Woolley. Woolley isn't happy about it and they go. Langkow threw a bunch of light punches, nothing landed. Woolley was mostly defense in this fight, but threw a couple. Langkow then throws one more that cracks Woolley, sending him to the ice. Other Penalties: Woolley received an instigator and misconduct.

Oct 19, 2002 Phoenix Coyotes Andrei Nazarov
1pd 13:43 Buffalo Sabres Eric Boulton
Comments: Nazarov is practically begging Ray to go and Ray just skates around in Naz's face talking. He won't go for whatever reason. Naz comes and put's a big hit on Ray and Boulton comes over and decides to engage. Naz overpowers Bulton and does some hugging. He throws some awful slaps at Boulton. Then Boulton just tackles Naz.

Oct 19, 2002 New York Islanders Eric Cairns
2pd 14:46 Atlanta Thrashers Francis Lessard
Comments: There was a scuffle among players at the boards and away from that, Lessard and Cairns have a go. Cairns knocked him down with a right and waited for him to get up. Then both start landing haymakers at will. Cairns loses his balance, regains himself and continues trading punches with Lessard until they tire and the linesmen come in.

Oct 19, 2002 New York Islanders Jason Wiemer
1pd 17:55 Atlanta Thrashers Francis Lessard
Comments: Off the faceoff they grab on and have a series of toe-to-toe exchanges. Lessard with the lefts, Wiemer with the rights. Wiemer lands an early one that cuts Lessard on the cheek. Then Lessard takes control and lands a couple of more lefts.
