Dec 16, 2001 Edmonton Oilers Sean Brown
1pd 06:53 Philadelphia Flyers Todd Fedoruk
Nice fair square off. Both guys have rights cocked and ready to throw. Both go for the grab and Fedoruk lets loose a heavy right that glances off the top of Brown's helmet. Brown is unphased and responds with two piston rights that do no damage. Fridge goes to the left and misses. Brown is off balance and throws a weak right as Fedoruk misses with another left jab. Fedoruk grabs on with the left now and switches to the right. Brown's head is down and he's vulnerable. Fedoruk's right finds Browns head this time and a follow up right catches Browns shoulder as he is still bent over. Another right to the shoulder by Todd. Sean has recovered now and a Fedoruk right appears to nail him in the left cheek. He responds with somewhat of a karate chop to the neck. A little grabbing now and Brown decides to pull Fedoruk's helmet off. Blood is showing on Fedoruk's left knuckles. Fedoruk's right is free. A right from Jupiter catches Brown in the back of the head ejecting his helmet. Another wild right misses Brown. More dancing as the guys try to readjust. Brown's forehead is bleeding heavily it appears. In close now Brown lands a wicked right cross and just misses an uppercut while Fedoruk's head was down. That was close! Brown's face is a mess as he is wearing the crimson mask! Some hugging. They appear tired and it's all over folks. Not sure where the cut came from, may have been as the helmet was knocked off as it was pushed forward into his head from behind.

Dec 16, 2001 Carolina Hurricanes Darren Langdon
3pd 17:39 Pittsburgh Penguins John Jakopin
None yet, but Langdon did not receive a penalty since he didn't fight back (yet it's 7-0 Carolina at the time, did he not think someone was going to come after him?). Other Penalties: Jakopin received an instigator, misconduct and game misconduct. Darren Langdon did not receive a fighting major.

Dec 15, 2001 Columbus Blue Jackets Jamie Pushor
2pd 03:50 Los Angeles Kings Ian Laperriere
As the play goes away from Columbus end, Lappy and Pushor come together in front of Tugnutt and quickly drop 'em. They grab each others jersey to start, eventually both trying to get an arm free. Lappy gets free first and fires 14 shots, landing 8 or 9. Then Pushor wrestles him for control and fires 9 of his own, the last to the back of Laperriere's head. Lappy gets a couple more shots in while Pushor is firing at him. Laperriere seems to tire first, and covers. The two then tie each other up, in the classic "hunched over" hockey fighter position. Kudos to both for going a full tilt.

Dec 15, 2001 Dallas Stars Derian Hatcher
1pd 19:48 Arizona Coyotes Brad May
The two square off behind Dallas' goal. They dance a little and then grab hold. May swings and misses with a right. Hatcher swings and partially connected with his right (might have been a helmet shot). Then May wrestles Hatcher down and swings at him when he's on the ice. It's a draw and not an entertaining fight.

Dec 15, 2001 Detroit Red Wings Jiri Fischer
2pd 10:49 Vancouver Canucks Todd Bertuzzi
Scrum is going on behind the net after a stoppage. Bertuzzi and Fischer are in the middle of the zone and decide to drop the gloves. They both hold onto each other tight. Fischer attempts to throw two rights. Neither connect. Hugging again. Bertuzzi tries to throw a short right that doesn't do anything. More hugging. Then they fall with Fischer on top.

Dec 15, 2001 Calgary Flames Jamie Allison
3pd 16:29 St. Louis Blues Reed Low
Allison leads with a left that grazes. Then they grapple with Low getting Allison's helmet off. Low gets the left free with Allison thinking he got a good hold on the shoulder, but has Low's collar instead. Allison gets the right somewhat free with Low having a slight hold on the shoulder of the Jersey. They trade 5 or 6 with Low getting the better of 'em. He got Allison pretty decently a couple of times. Allison looses his balance and goes and stays down. Linesman come in and Low throws a few more for good measure (probably since he hasn't played in so long).

Dec 15, 2001 Florida Panthers Bill Lindsay
3pd 10:47 New York Islanders Dave Scatchard
Near the Islanders penalty box these two start shoving. They decide to go and try to grab on while skating decently fast for a fight. Lindsay is the only one that can grab hold cleanly at first, as he does so with his left hand. He tries to throw a right, and Scatch catches it with his left hand. They do a 180 and Scatchard tries to throw a couple of rights, but Lindsay has his jersey grabbed at the arm towards the elbow. Lindsay then throws a right that misses. They keep spinning...Scatchard then throws a left hook taht grazes and has Lindsay almost in a headlock. He then tries to throw a right while he has Lindsay there, but Lindsay is able to back out of it. After a 360, Lindsay throws a wild right that misses. Slowing down he throws a nice straight right that hits Scatch cleanly. They're still spinning and Lindsay lands a couple of right hooks to the body. Lindsay then pops him with a left (while still holding Scatchard's jersey with that hand) and attempts to quickly get in a right, but the second punch misses. They then hold on and it's broken up.

Dec 15, 2001 Florida Panthers Peter Worrell
3pd 03:46 New York Islanders Eric Cairns
Cairns second fight of the game. Two minutes earlier these two served coincidental minors for roughing. Worrell gets the puck a few seconds out of the box and Cairns checks him. The two then drop the gloves and attempt to finish what they wanted to start before. Worrell starts with a right that Cairns attempts to dodge. In doing so, Worrell practically has him turned around. Worrell then throws five consecutive shots to the back of Cairns' helmet trailing to right below his neck by the end. He's trying to turn around to be face-to-face with Worrell but Worrell hugs and won't let him. Worrell then tries to get Cairns' helmet off and Cairns grabs it to stop him. Worrell then throws two more rights to the back of Cairns' head. Cairns is then able to turn around, but Worrell is still holding on real tight. They hug some more and Cairns gives Worrell a tap to the face with his fist and the linesmen come in to break it up. Worrell looked like he was the one that insisted on the wrestling match.

Dec 15, 2001 Florida Panthers Joey Tetarenko
2pd 03:20 New York Islanders Steve Webb
Tetarenko's second fight of the game. Webb checks Tetarenko near the Islanders bench and they both grab on and launch the gloves (one flew pretty far). Webb throws the first one quick and it's a right that glances the side of Tetarenko's head. Webb tries to throw another right, but Tetarenko get's up his left arm and stopped it. Quick shuffling of the jerseys and Tetarenko throws a right that goes over Webb's head. Tetarenko then throws a right that hits Webb cleanly in the forehead. He then throws another that gets Webb's helmet to come back off his head. A third right in a row misses body and gets all jersey as Webb moves to his right. Tetarenko then tries for a right uppercut that appears to have landed. Webb, with his left hand, the same hand that has the neckline of Tetarenko's jersey, throws a quick jab that Tetarenko ducks his head under. Tetarenko tries to throw his right again and it goes over the top of Webb who's ducking. He then throws a right again, but ends it open-handed, trying to completely remove Webb's helmet. Another right then misses, and as he's going forward Webb throws a left that goes over Tetarenko's body, missing him as well. As they're each trying to regain their balance, Tetarenko throws two more rights, both looking as though they went over Webb's head (Webb is straightening out his body as his head was still bent down). Webb then throws a left that hits Tetarenko's shoulder, and tries to throw another. Tetarenko is leaning out of the way, and they start grappling a bit for position. Webb gets Tetarenko's jersey over his head, and Tetarenko throws one more punch that misses. Webb then lands a solid left to the blinded Tetarenko, and then another as Tetarenko starts to fall. One more punch by Webb as he starts to fall since he's still holding on to Tetarenko's jersey. Linesmen come in. Other Penalties: Robert Svehla received a roughing.

Dec 15, 2001 Florida Panthers Joey Tetarenko
1pd 08:52 New York Islanders Eric Cairns
With some puching and shoving, it starts in front of the Isles net. They grab on quick and Cairns starts throwing powerful rights. Tetarenko throws two rights of his own at the same time. Cairns' land as he has Tetarenko slightly hunched over. Cairns then tries to throw a big uppercut but it misses. He then throws another that lands. Cairns now throws a punch above the head, going for the under-over. This lands, but not as hard. As they're turning Cairns throws another overhanded punch that lands decently to the side of Tetarenko's head. Tetarenko tries to retaliate with two quick rights of his own that both miss. Cairns is winding up for a possible left when Tetarenko goes for a huge right that misses as Cairns leans back. Another right by Tetarenko that grazes off the outside of Cairns' shoulder. Cairns then misses an uppercut and both miss a right at the same time. Cairns then throws a straight right that lands solid as Tetarenko was trying to get the shoulder up. Cairns then throws another right that hits Tetarenko as he's beginning to fall (from the shot before). Tetarenko goes down and Cairns stops throwing as the linesmen come in. Solid display from Cairns.
Voted winner: Eric Cairns (96.0%) - Voted rating: 5.8

Dec 15, 2001 Montreal Canadiens Reid Simpson
3pd 05:31 Toronto Maple Leafs Tie Domi
Domi just became leafs all time penalty minute leader with this fight. Not a big fight to get it with though. Domi tried to get Reid's shirt over his head and they spent most of the fight hugging. They both landed one punch each in close.

Dec 15, 2001 Philadelphia Flyers Keith Primeau
3pd 05:22 Boston Bruins Nick Boynton
Boynton starts off with a nice right that lands cleanly and follows with one or two more that makes Primeau lose his helmet and balance. After he gets up Boynton seems scared and Primeau throws a plethora of rights that land to the back and side of the head until the linesman come in. Not sure why Boynton was so hesitant because he could have won this fight

Dec 15, 2001 Philadelphia Flyers Chris McAllister
3pd 02:51 Boston Bruins Andrei Nazarov
Nazarov throws a lunging punch that misses. They grapple for positioning a bit and McAllister throws 4 rights that have Naz ducking and hiding. Naz tries to respond with a feeble left that gets him off balance. As he is falling McAllister throws 2 more rights down at Nazarov, then the linesman save him. Nothing major landed in this bout if at all.
