Jan 05, 2002 Washington Capitals Stephen Peat
2pd 12:21 Boston Bruins P.J. Stock
They shove each other, waiting for the play to go further up ice before dropping the gloves and grabbing ahold of each other. Peat lands a right cross with Stock returning fire in the form of a right jab. Stock switches hands and the two go toe-to-toe with rapid fire punches: Stock with the left; Peat with the right. Stock continues to throw quick lefts while Peat stops throwing and ducks his head down. Both fighters switch hands and start going toe-to-toe with punches once again, each landing numerous shots. Peat throws two rights to the back of Stock's head followed by seven straight lefts while Stock answers the favor by throwing three more quick rights. The two exchange punches inside just before they start going toe-to-toe once more. The two tire out soon after, allowing the linesman to skate in and separate the two. Stock waves to the crowd, which gives both fighters a standing ovation.
Voted winner: P.J. Stock (59.4%) - Voted rating: 9.7

Jan 05, 2002 Dallas Stars Sami Helenius
2pd 03:55 St. Louis Blues Reed Low
Helenius didn't throw a punch after Low got his left going. (His right hand is injured according to Blues color man kelly Chase). Low threw a whole bunch of lefts from in tight and some got helmet maybe the side of Sammy's face, but nothing major.

Pretty good tilt between two middleweights. Both guys got their rights free and threw a lot. Ruutu might have landed the better shots.

Jan 03, 2002 Buffalo Sabres Rob Ray
3pd 10:52 Calgary Flames Bob Boughner
Ray went after Boughner in a scrappy 3rd period but Boughner didn't seem too interested...so Ray drops the gloves anyways, and starts firing shots at a turtling (but still standing) Boughner. With the PIMs he accumulated, Rob Ray joins the 3000 PIMs club! Congrats Rayzor! Other Penalties: Ray received an instigator, misconduct and game misconduct; Boughner a roughing. Bob Boughner did not receive a fighting major.

Jan 03, 2002 Columbus Blue Jackets Jody Shelley
1pd 05:24 St. Louis Blues Reed Low
The camera gets in as Low is delivering a right which comes up short and follows with another right which misses. After a moment of grappling Low attempts a right uppercut and nothing's happening. Shelley fires a right which hits Low in the back. Low is cocked and ready. Shelley fires a wild right which grazes Reed's face and stuns him a bit. Shelley releases another right hitting Low in the helmet just above the face. Two more weak rights miss. Shelley gets bent over and Reed fires a left over his back and misses and then a left uppercut that ain't happening. Jody comes back with a right to the neck that lands solidly as a Low left misses. Jody lands another right that snaps Low's head sideways and follows with an errant right over the head. Reed gets a bit off balance and causes Shelley to miss with a right then Reed goes for the hug. In tight now, Shelley unloads a heavy right that appears to fall just short. Rights by both men miss badly. Low's hair looks wild coming out of his helmet! Jody grazes his helmet with another right. More grabbing. Shelley catches Reed with an inadvertant forearm to the face. 34 is losing this one folks. I swear Reed looks like a stand in for some Mad Max film with that hair. Jody looks to land a short left to the face while in close. Reed is trying to get the helmet off and finally does. Oooh, and then he corks a right off the back off Shelley's head. Jody comes back with a strong left to the face! That straightened his hair out! Tiring a bit. Low lands a right to the side of the head. Twisting around. Low lands another right to the head and has a bloody knuckle now. Owww, Low just landed a doozy right to the head again. Shelley is losing momentum. He slips to the ice and the zebras rush in. Low lands a right to the back as Shelley is down on a knee and the refs are in. Credit Low for making a solid comeback.

Jan 03, 2002 Washington Capitals Stephen Peat
1pd 02:02 Ottawa Senators Chris Neil
After a whistle, these two go deep in the Ottawa defensive zone, only about 2 minutes in. Both are raining punches at all cylinders during this very long fight. At the beginning of the fight, Neil held the upperhand. He landed many punches to the back of Peat's head. Peat is trying to avoid them and get a good grip on Neil. About 20 seconds later, both guys get their hands free and they really start letting them fly. Both guys throwing at least 15 punches, landing more than half. That went on for about 30 seconds. Peat then threw 3 massive bombs to the face of Neil, with all 3 landing. 2 landed directly on the mouth of Neil, it appeared he was bloodied a little. After that flurry of punches, they hold each other against the boards for a few seconds and the linesmen come in.

Jan 02, 2002 Philadelphia Flyers Donald Brashear
3pd 15:25 San Jose Sharks Bryan Marchment
In the third period, Marchment lands a huge open ice check on Brashear that wobbles the great hugger. Later on, Brash goes looking for revenge, but Marchment went for the immediate takedown and for some reason the linesman give them both majors. WHY? Who knows…

Jan 02, 2002 Philadelphia Flyers Chris McAllister
1pd 13:12 San Jose Sharks Scott Thornton
McAllister checks Thornton behind the net and away they go. Thornton gets the jump on McAllister and starts with a quick right that goes over McAllister's left shoulder; another quick right that lands to the side of McAllister's head/helmet. While he is throwing a third right that goes into McAllister's chest, Chris throws a short right that grazes Thorton's chin. Thorton is holding on now and McAllister winds up a huge right that hits the left shoulder/armpit area. McAllister then winds up a huge right uppercut that probably landed to the chest, but is impossible to tell due to the camera angle. At this point Thornton is just interested in surviving and is keeping real close to McAllister. Mcallister has the right hand cocked for a while and throws a big right uppercut that hits Thornton's chest and grazed his chin. the momentum of the punch gives Thornton the oppurtunity to grab unto the right hand so McAllister winds up with a huge left that connects to the head and has Thornton moving backwards. Thornton tries to recover by throwing a left while off balance that misses short and crosses him up. Vulnerable now with no way to strike Thornton leans back as McAllister throws two more right hands at Thornton, one of which was basically a forearm to the back and the other landing to the back of Thornton's helmet in which the momentum brought them both to their knees. The linesman then jump in.
