| Behind the play the two drop the gloves right at the blueline with the two exchanging punches: Murray with the left; Vukota some rights. Vukota lands a right just before he loses his balance and goes down to a knee. He returns to his feet and the two go back and forth with rights. Vukota sees the blood streaming from Murray's face and allows the linesmen to step in. Both are sent back to the dressing room for repairs. | ||

| Jan 29, 1998 | Chicago Blackhawks | Reid Simpson |
| 2pd 11:57 | San Jose Sharks | Marty McSorley |
| Right off of the faceoff the two drop the gloves and tie up. McSorley throws four early rights while Simpson puts a hand in McSorley's face and throws two of his own. The two exchange quick rights while Simpson gets McSorley's jersey up and over his head. Simpson throw a mix of rights and uppercuts while McSorley is throwing blind, wild punches. McSorley gets in a right and Simpson responds with five rights, knocking McSorley's helmet off. McSorley throws two body shots just before falling down to his knees only to get right back up. The two then go back and forth with rights until Simpson rips McSorley's jersey off. They then exchange bombs, each player switching between hands and landing almost all of their punches. The two continue to go back and forth with numerous punches until they tire out and the linesmen move in. They are then escorted to the wrong penalty boxes and sent out to switch. McSorley skates over to a crowd of Blackhawks and gets shoved by Chelios. McSorley pops Chelios with a short right and the linesmen have to skate over and re-escort McSorley to the box and then the hallway. Other Penalties: McSorley received a game misconduct; Jim Cummins a misconduct. | ||

| Jan 29, 1998 | Dallas Stars | Todd Harvey |
| 2pd 08:56 | Florida Panthers | Terry Carkner |
| Harvey hits Carkner along the boards and gets his stick up in Carkner's face, causing both players to drop the gloves. Harvey throws five early rights that hit the top and side of Carkner's helmet before they wrestle along the boards. Carkner gets his right free and returns fire while Harvey connects with three more lefts. Carkner switches hands and throws two lefts that knock Harvey's helmet off. They then go toe-to-toe with punches: both fighters throwing lefts and rights. Harvey goes for the takedown, but doesn't have the strength to pull it off. They exchange another punch each before the linesmen step in and send the fatigued players to the penalty box. | ||
